Chapter 5

Dark Small Medium Large Original Scroll to Bottom

Pushing open the door, Li Fei was holding a wooden stake, her eyes rolled back as she fainted onto a pile of medicine boxes

With his left hand, Zhao Bin forcefully groped the girl's buttocks a few times before finally retracting his hand and softly asking the already extremely embarrassed and furious Li Fei to step aside

With swift strides of three steps at a time, Zhao Bin returned to the sixth floor, only to find that the security door of his home was firmly locked. It seemed that Li Fei had likely escaped to his house. He took the key from his waist and unlocked the door. Striding in, he found the living room completely silent. Sunlight streamed through the gaps in the aluminum blinds fixed on the window, casting light on the marble floor.

The door suddenly slammed inward, followed by a loud bang, as if it had collided with something and then rebounded. It was promptly stopped by Zhao Bin's hand.

Zhao Bin's face was flushed, and his neck was completely trapped, making it impossible for him to breathe

Zhao Bin rested his left hand on the stair railing, the watermelon knife slightly raised. He cautiously made his way to the entrance of the fourth floor, peering into the open security door. A fat man's corpse lay sprawled in the middle of the living room. His abdomen had been completely hollowed out, with internal organs scattered everywhere. A section of intestine, already turned yellow-green, was stretched out, extending all the way to the doormat at the entrance of the security door.

Zhao Bin did not need to look to know that this woman was undoubtedly in a state of panic, her face pale.

Zhao Bin checked the lock on the iron gate and confirmed it was secure, which allowed him to let out a gentle sigh of relief. He knew that at least the fifth and sixth floors were temporarily safe. With this door providing protection and isolation, the zombies below the fifth floor would definitely be unable to enter. He had engaged in close combat with zombies before and understood the general destructive power of typical zombies

The corpse of the originally lying fat man slowly rose up, with blood-red eyes and a mouth drooling open, revealing ivory-white fangs protruding from it. One of the fat man's arms was barely attached by a strip of skin. One leg was also limping, which caused it to approach Zhao Bin at a slow pace

Zhao Bin's complexion instantly changed from red to pale. He looked at the approaching, roaring fat zombie. Zhao Bin leaned back, pressing his back against the iron door, and turned his head to glance through the gap in the iron bars, confirming that Li Fei had completely escaped. At that moment, a loud bang echoed from upstairs as a door slammed shut.

The two individuals descended from the fifth floor without incident and arrived at the large iron door situated between the fourth and fifth floors. The heavy iron door completely isolates the stairwell between the fourth and fifth floors, with even the gaps in the handrails and stairs blocked by iron bars the thickness of a thumb.

In fact, Zhao Bin was not particularly angry; after all, it was just a moment of carelessness that led him to be ambushed by the overweight zombie. In reality, there was no significant danger. However, he touched his neck, where there still remained the disgusting residue of slime, a byproduct from that fat zombie's intestines.

He scanned the living room and found that only the door to the bedroom storing supplies was tightly closed, while the wooden stake with nails that he had originally placed next to the shoe cabinet in the living room had also disappeared. A sense of unease immediately arose in his heart.

He curved his lips slightly, and his empty left hand quietly pinched Li Fei's hip in her jeans. The taut and wonderfully elastic sensation made Zhao Bin feel unexpectedly cheerful. He distinctly sensed Li Fei's entire body tense up suddenly, like a compressed spring, as if it were about to burst free at any moment

Zhao Bin took off the keychain from his waist and found the one for the bedroom

Zhao Bin had his intestines completely wrapped around his neck several times. With his left hand, he firmly grasped a section of the intestines. With his right hand, he brought down a watermelon knife forcefully onto the intestines.

Zhao Bin furrowed his brow, sensing that something was amiss; the surroundings were unnaturally quiet. The silence was somewhat eerie. He felt a slight chill run across his skin, and as a mage, his superior mental strength granted him an exceptional intuition for danger. This intuition was subtle, almost fleeting, yet it was enough to put Zhao Bin on high alert.

The overweight zombie fell to the ground with a thud, twisted its body a few times, and then lay still.

Zhao Bin's eyes flashed with a hint of hostility

Indeed, there was nothing outside the iron gate. The two quietly stepped out, only to find the door of a household on the fourth floor wide open, with a large pool of blood on the ground at the entrance. Zhao Bin felt a tightening in his chest. After looking around, he noticed that the stairwell below the fourth floor was empty, which could be disregarded for the time being. Therefore, the only course of action was to approach the open door of this household.

It was I who rescued Consort Li from the wardrobe and promised to see her off. However, at the critical moment, this woman proved to be of no use whatsoever, except to add insult to injury.

Zhao Bin shoved the watermelon knife under the sofa and then went to the storage room to get a wooden stick about the thickness of his fist. He deliberately made clear footsteps, clacking as he walked. He arrived in front of the storage bedroom holding the wooden stick.

Zhao Bin made a judgment. He compared the small bloodstains on the intestines at the entrance and found that the colors did not completely match. The bloodstains from the fat man were black with a hint of red, while the bloodstains at the entrance were dark red

Zhao Bin crouched down to examine the bloodstains at the entrance carefully

It should be blood from before yesterday, and it must be fresh and uninfected blood

With a sharp sound, a flash of silver light appeared as the fruit knife struck the fat zombie squarely in the face. After creating a transparent hole in the center of its forehead, the knife continued with force, plunging deeply into the shoe cabinet behind it, embedding itself halfway in.

Zhao Bin walked ahead, tiptoeing to minimize any sound. In his right hand, he gripped a small, arm-length watermelon knife through a glove. The steel knife reflected a bright light off the walls of the stairwell. Zhao Bin felt that his palms inside the gloves were already drenched in sweat, partly due to nervousness and partly due to the high temperature. Additionally, wearing non-breathable rubber gloves prevented the sweat from evaporating.

Zhao Bin soon learned that Li Fei had escaped to the sixth floor

Fortunately, there are no wounds; otherwise, it would be difficult to say that I would definitely be infected. The most important thing now is to go back and wash myself clean. As for that woman who escaped on her own, well.

With a bang, akin to striking hard wood, the watermelon knife merely carved a shallow pit into the intestines

Click ... ...

Zhao Bin pushed with his hand, and the iron gate swung open effortlessly

"I know you are in there, come out." He chuckled twice. This woman thought she would be safe by hiding in the bedroom, not realizing that when Zhao Bin renovated, he made all the bedroom door locks compatible for convenience. In other words, one key opens all the bedroom doors.

Zhao Bin was panting heavily. He walked over to the fat man and kicked the corpse twice, confirming that it was completely dead before returning to the iron gate. Looking at the firmly locked iron gate, Zhao Bin's face turned pale.

Damn it! I'll settle the score with you later! Ungrateful thing!

The originally bright red bloodstains had been evaporated by the high temperature, turning into dark red clots, while several green-headed flies buzzed around, crawling on them.

The iron gate was fully pushed open, and there was nothing outside the door

Damn

The iron door was slowly pushed open a crack by Li Fei. The girl widened her eyes, trembling hands, her body bent in a bowing posture, ready to turn and flee at any moment. Behind her, Zhao Bin could clearly see the tiny beads of sweat on the girl's milky white skin

Although Li Fei had run away, he no longer had to worry about the leakage of his spells. Zhao Bin quickly pulled a small fruit knife from his pocket, and a low, eerie chant continued for two seconds. A faint light flickered on the fruit knife as Zhao Bin gently released it towards the fat zombie.

Not good! Zhao Bin, alert, suddenly stood up and retreated. However, he was still a step too late

The heavy iron door is now completely shut, locked tightly. The previously present Consort Li has now vanished without a trace.

Ah! A voice filled with extreme terror came from behind, belonging to the imperial consort Li.

With a snap, that piece of intestine on the ground unexpectedly coiled around Zhao Bin's throat as if it were alive

The soft chant echoed once more, and a mass of light green slime violently struck the keyhole of the iron door. Accompanied by the hissing sound of corrosion, the keyhole was soon completely eroded into a large hole

A soft "thud" echoed, piercing through the silence of the stairwell. Zhao Bin's heart tightened, and the watermelon knife was raised slightly.

The lock opened, and Zhao Bin's expression turned fierce. With a kick, he forcefully pushed the door open with a loud bang

He turned back and nodded to Li Fei, signaling her to unlock the door with the key, while Zhao Bin held the watermelon knife, remaining vigilant and on guard against whatever might be behind the door. This had been a brief discussion between the two before they left just now. It was also what he had just given to Li Fei.

Zhao Bin desperately hacked at his intestines with a watermelon knife. After a series of thuds, it was not until the fourth strike that he completely severed the intestines. He quickly removed the remaining piece that was wrapped around his neck. Zhao Bin took a few steps back.

Bang! He suddenly heard a sound behind him, and his heart skipped a beat. He turned around to take a look

Zhao Bin immediately became vigilant. Although he did not believe that Li Fei would realize the extent of her ambush against him, one must always be cautious of others. This woman seemed extremely fearful of death; who knows what she might do if she suddenly erupted.
